Two founders of the DPR Women in the Wild team will introduce this special series focused on more equitable and inclusive outdoor experiences. Breaking down barriers to participation though specialized training and events, Women in the Wild activities are designed for and by women, building confidence and community while fostering an appreciation of the natural word. After a 20-minute program overview backed by industry research demonstrating a need to venture into female-forward programming, staff will share collateral and resources to help other agencies replicate Women in the Wild in their home town. Then, the audience will break into three groups to rotate between mini-sessions embodying the Women in the Wild event planning framework: Meet, See, Learn and Do. Staffed by County park rangers, these sessions may include a reptile and snake 101 course, a tent building + leave no trace conversation and a hands-on competition.
