Session Description: As we transition and are engaging in more face-to-face programming, strategic planning with community input offers a promising path for the future of parks and recreation. Through a series of case-study presentations, participants will develop an understanding of evidence-based practice in community engaged research. Identify how to activate community members as change agents by involving them in the planning process.
Learning Objectives:
Develop an understanding of three research informed approaches to strategic community engagement.
Participants will learn three methods for recruitment of community stakeholders for participation in strategic planning and special projects.
Upon completion, participants will be able to implement the 'best practices guide to participant engagement' by applying methods for engagement to at least one scenario within their own work context.
