Dr. Joyner is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Sacramento. Her research interests include community participatory action research, environmental justice, and food sovereignty. She holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Tourism from East Carolina University and bachelor’s degrees in Sustainable Development and Technical Photography from Appalachian State University. Dr. Joyner has worked extensively with non-profit, government, and industry partners on collaborative community engaged initiatives ranging from strategic participatory planning processes with the NPS, to agritourism and food equity related education projects with non-profits and food access advocates across the U.S. and internationally.
