Session Description: You don't have to have a Nature Center to teach about nature. During the pandemic, communities flooded to hiking trails and natural areas. Many of these users had never been in these places before. Without access to indoor facilities, open space areas suddenly became the main locations for recreational programs. This session will explain the values of nature experiences and programming techniques to help connect your community and children to nature. For when they connect, they learn and when they learn, they protect.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will understand the divide between nature interactions in urban communities, and identify if their organization has any of these voids.
Upon completion, participants with understand the importance of creating a sense of place connection with their park users.
Upon completion, participants with learn about inquiry based learning principles and how they can be used in their parks.
