Developing a Trans* Inclusion Guide for Youth Recreation Programs and Camps

Session Description: If you've been looking for support in developing policies or guidelines to support transgender and/or gender-expansive youth and staff in your programs, this is the session for you! Using a sample guide that was developed for overnight camps for reference, learn about the important questions to consider and decisions to be made to help frame the policies for your department or program. This session will explore important lessons learned during the development process and share results and feedback post-implementation. While this session is not an introduction to the topic, we will spend a short amount of time on general vocabulary and overall concept to help ensure shared understanding. Additional resources will also be provided. The desired outcome is for participants to walk away with an understanding of the development process, key decision points and a sample guide to use as a framework for developing policies that fit their own programs or departments.
