Arash Izadi leads LPA’s national Sport + Recreation team, helping to create sustainable, cost-effective recreation and aquatic facilities that work better for the users. For more than 25 years, he has focused on the link between site, building and programming. His work has earned awards and helped reshape campuses and communities, with a research-focused approach that strives to develop resilient, flexible facilities. A frequent speaker at industry events and contributing writer for national publications, Arash is a leading advocate for the importance of extensive community and stakeholder engagement in the design process. Arash founded the Sport + Rec practice in 2009, developing a team with extensive experience in programming, consensus building, cost analysis, prioritization and project design. He helped launch the Sites Group, focused on linking landscape architecture to building design, and led the firm’s expansion into tournament sports park design and collegiate recreation centers. His range of expertise includes recreation centers stadiums, sports centers, parks, community centers, aquatic facilities, tennis complexes and regional and national sports parks, with a technical focus on recreation programming, aquatic programming and synthetic turf analysis and replacement.
