Tara Gee has worked for the City of Roseville since 1997 as a licensed landscape architect and Park Planning & Development Superintendent/Manager. Tara is a Regent Emeritus at the California Park & Recreation Society’s Maintenance Management School (MMS) having taught the First Year curriculum “how to develop a maintenance management plan”. In 2008, Tara developed and teaches a three-year rotating topic on leadership, which includes a week-long curriculum for each year and still teaches this program to date. The overarching topics include “Personal Career Development” using Pink Floyd’s “Brick in the Wall”; Planning Forward covering topics such as “leadership and change”, goal setting and measuring success; Leadership skills including “Leadership, The Dr. Seuss Way”, “Time Management”, “Monkey Business” and “Character.”
Tara has served on a number of California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) professional boards, task forces and special committees with her most recent positions on the State Board of Directors’ Presidential series, starting as Vice President, ascending to President-Elect and President in 2020 (The Pandemic President). Tara is also a Board of Trustee serving as Secretary on the California Foundation of Parks & Recreation (CFPR). She also teaches at the annual California Park & Recreation Society Conference, has taught at Sacramento State University, at the National Recreation & Park Association Congress, and in children’s classrooms and after-school programs.
Tara is a wife and mother, enjoys playing Taiko (Japanese) drums and the bamboo flute, arts & crafts and painting.
