Discussions on race can be uncomfortable. Fear of being judged, dismissed, misunderstood, or just flat out saying the wrong thing in many instances can lead to an unwillingness to have important conversations that could lead to better understanding and empathy throughout out workplaces and communities. This session will discuss how we all have privileges in certain situations and how we can use those to help uplift those that don’t have it.
Sharing personal examples and stories from experts, the session will talk about how we can spaces where conversations about race and identities can safely happen, the roles we play in creating these spaces, and the importance of defining the words we use in these conversations so that ultimately, we can try to make some of these uncomfortable conversations a little more comfortable.
